About Kerrin

Hello and welcome to my website. I am a meteorologist and science communicator who enjoys science storytelling and education through visual and multimedia.

I started my career as a broadcast meteorologist, gaining more than 10 years of experience at local and national television stations around the country. Through this time, I shared critical weather and safety information over a range of media, including as on-camera talent.

In 2019, I made a decision to leave broadcast television to gain better work/life balance and also expand my knowledge and skills in science communication and storytelling. I joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado as a communications strategist, where I now develop a broad variety of scientific content and outreach through print, digital, social media platforms for a world-class scientific research facility. The career change pushed my personal and professional boundaries, but has helped me grow in ways I ever expected.

I received my degree in Meteorology from Lyndon State College (now called Northern Vermont University) in my home state of Vermont. I am a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist as designated by the American Meteorological Society.

Beyond my career, I am a wife (to Steve, also a meteorologist) and cat-mom (to Luna the Weather Cat). I enjoy traveling, eating good food, cooking, staying physically active (often by way of a good hike or outdoor activity), and also dabble in acting and theatre ( you can read more about that on my acting page). While I love to stay active and busy, nothing beats “R & R” at home.
